Past the Golden Gate

Past the Golden Gate-
Step off a corner make your second left and find yourself alone
There is an owl in the tree down by the bay
So you listen to his reasoning, argue with the wisdom in his poem
Break from the hour glass and sit there in the sand until you...
See the light of daybreak on the way
and everything I ever do or say can make it mine
I'll be the only friend I need, myself it's just you and me
But leave the others on the sidelines
Take shape in a photograph, and breath is on the window in my home
if my eyes could separate a memory
from reality. I'm next in line
will there be time enough to climb?
and find I'm suddenly looking to the distance
and I'll...
See the light of daybreak on the way
and everything I ever do or say can make it mine
I'll be the only friend I need, myself it's just you and me
But leave the others on the sidelines.

New Windows

New Windows-
Well you sing of things of love, you're scared
that you won't know what you know when you need it
And I'll pretend to lose all sight, we'll pain when it's hungry
So if we know the way, and if we go away, we never will return.
I know we're strong and tough
the worst it seems is never enough
to keep us on the ground
So when the normal fades
and everything begins to change
I know where exactly to be found...
I'm tired of all the things I hate
and I'm suffocating waiting for them
to dissipate and turn to glass,
new windows all around me
so if we think the same
and if it's all a game, we'll laugh when we return.
I know we're strong and tough
the worst it seems is never enough
to keep us on the ground
So when the normal fades
and everything begins to change
I know where exactly to be found...

The Sidewalk Shakes

The Sidewalk Shakes-
It's been a slow start this year
and I'm waiting for you to turn ripe
as I pull off this skin
and make good use of the fruit inside.
I need to go
the sidewalk shakes and now I'm gone
it's like I said it always would be
I think this place must want me dead
but I still walk alive.
I recognize my age
that's why I keep questioning my fate
will glasses fix my point of view?
My pessimism is nothing new
So I refuse to break
I'm suffering but I'm awake
The more I think the less I move
I'm crawling now but I'll be walking soon...
I've got no connections
but I'm sure I'll find my way
and if I leave with good intentions
then the conflicts soon will fade
I need to go
the sidewalk shakes and now I'm gone
it's like I said it always would be
I think this place must want me dead
but I still walk alive

Most of Love's Intentions-
She tallies with all interwoven
logical devices left inside
It's not a matter that one could understand
Most of love's intentions are never planned
She screams you don't need to know
but I'm riffling through her honesty
In the passenger seat outside of her home
Yeah she runs to the comfort of being alone
She scratches her worth with pure emotion
wondering how he's dead inside
she cannot be the one to crack
his failure in seeing what she calls right
The happiest of endings are ending these nights
She screams you don't need to know
but I'm riffling through her honesty
In the passenger seat outside of her home
Yeah she runs to the comfort of being alone

Death is a Holiday

Death is a Holiday-
Time flies so we’re having fun you know we’re gonna get much stronger
Turning over every passive person that we know
We’re still alive and now we’ll show ‘em just how lively we can be
If everyone would step aside, and give themselves some room to breathe.
There’s no comfort in surprises
We intend to get it right with no second time around
And though we typically deny this…
Everyone gets tired and shuts down.
Death is a holiday, not looking forward to vacation
That’s why we got to try to make each one a better day
We’re still alive and now we’re showing just how lively we can be
If everyone would step aside, and give themselves some room to breathe.
There’s no comfort in surprises
We intend to get it right with no second time around
And though we typically deny this…
Everyone gets tired and shuts down.

Enemies on the Horizon

Enemies on the Horizon-
There's somebody making her crazy
There's somebody making her warm
She's got everything and nothing but something to lose.
So she harbors her affections
never revealing the troubles inside
She's got enemies on the horizon
hopelessly feeling that she's alright.
Oh look she's taking it easy
clamped down by a feeling of warmth
She's got everything and nothing but something to lose.
So she harbors her affections
never revealing the troubles inside
She's got enemies on the horizon
hopelessly feeling that she's alright.
She's got to be a demon in disguise, oh believe it
Best to keep a safer distance if you're wise.

Never Again

Never Again-
There's a hole in the place
where you once said hello and goodbye
Now I cling to the profit.
Never again will I be alone
though she seldom says a word when she's stoned
I get the best when she sleeps by the phone
knowing never again will I be alone.
Don't care to break
what empty promises fix,
wheels turning the cycle.
There's too many things
we just don't dare to say
now that's called survival!
Never again will I be alone
though she seldom says a word when she's stoned
She gets the best, down to the bone
Never again will I be alone
though she seldom says a word when she's stoned
I get the best when she sleeps by the phone
knowing never again will I be alone.

Trouble is Wandering
01:56
|
|||
Trouble is Wandering-
Shudder at the criminal sound
we aim to protect but there's blood on the ground
Stop to worship, scope out the scene
when trouble is wandering, detected but clean
Start to discover the emptiness that lies in your heart.
But still we wait for whatever does come along
We start to unravel the damage is done, uh huh.
Such wonder the bridge in the town
it lends an escape but it won't let you out
Grab the worthless greedy machine
you're spinning it's wheels, it's turning you green
Start to uncover, capital is the root of your heart.
But still we wait for whatever does come along
We start to unravel the damage is done, uh huh.
And most of us who work are suffocating
it's hard to get a moment of peace
The truth is that this life is a lie
we don't want to admit it cuz we want to die
happy knowing we've achieved our dreams
Nobody said that life would be easy
We've got the wrong direction but we're carving in stone
no one laughs and no one is alone.
Yeah, no one laughs and no one is alone.

This Full Moon
02:55
|

This Full Moon-
There is nothing anchoring us down
so tell me why are we standing in the rain?
shoulder to shoulder
Eyes now fixed we're sounding trumpets
dancing by the light in this full moon
There was something angering my mind
something ordinary something I refused to hide
getting older and older
Thoughts now fixed I'm sounding trumpets
dancing by the light in this full moon...
We're a long ways from getting where we want to be
all the while we take in what we see
Knowing that we'll soon be found
by listening to the sound of trumpets
There is nothing anchoring us down
so tell me why are we laughing in the rain?
shoulder to shoulder
Eyes now fixed we're sounding trumpets
dancing by the light in this full moon...

We Don't Break
02:31
|

We Don't Break-
I can't seem to fly so I won't see the moon
We call on each other expected to lose
And those who demand tend to alter the course
with brittle words choking on knots in the voice.
We don't break when we fall
and we can't see the end not at all
When we're ready to go we'll make that call
We can't see the end not at all...
Don't seem to try then won't seem to move
My personal best can always improve
But if you deny yourself all you deserve
then pack up your bags and head for the dirt.
We don't break when we fall
and we can't see the end not at all
When we're ready to go we'll make that call
We can't see the end not at all...
